Who I am and What I’m doing here…

Who I am…

I’m Seleana, from Minnesota. In May 2020, I was diagnosed with a respiratory disease called chronic Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis (perfect timing, I know). Simply put, my immune system is overreacting to something in my environment, causing inflammation and scarring in my lungs. It took me from highly active to sedentary (think 90 year old woman lung capacity) in a short amount of time, which took it’s toll physically and mentally.

I decided that I needed to do something to get back to the things in life that I enjoyed (aside from sitting in my living room playing video games and working on my novel), and had to figure out how to do them with my new normal. I am still figuring things out, but what better way to learn about my abilities than to just go out and do it.

If you’ve stuck around this far, thank you! Hope you’ll join me and we can learn some stuff together.

…Why I’m here

The Adventures of Seleana is a place for people like me (or anyone who feels like tagging along), who have a disability, as well as the desire and ability to get out and experience the world. Here you will find tips and tricks, resources for travel, accessibility information of my destinations, etc…

I got the idea for this after a trip to California for my sister’s wedding. Traveling with a portable oxygen concentrator (POC) was new to me and finding the FAA requirements and forms for reporting equipment to the airline was so much harder than it needed to be. It would be more helpful if all of that was in one easy to access place, right? Well, that’s my goal here.
