September Gear Update: Thermals

  • by

Hey everyone! Time to talk about keeping warm while outdoors. If you were around last season, you know I froze my butt off because I didn’t have thermals/base layers. I won’t be making that mistake again. One of my hiking buddies gifted me a pair of the ones they love (HEROBIKER fleece lined) and I am looking forward to putting them to good use. I have worn them on the Park Point adventure, so I can speak to their capabilities in that aspect. They are basic, but they do the job.

What I like

  • Soft! I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand when my clothes are itchy, pinchy, or the like. These are soft and comfortable.
  • True to size! They fit well and even have a little stretch. I am taller and on the bigger size, so it can be tricky to find stuff that fits well.
  • Warm! I put these under jeans and a sweatshirt when I was near Lake Superior in 40 degrees F weather (If you know, you know). I stayed a good temperature, which was the goal.

What I don’t (again, there isn’t much)

  • Short. I am tall, so finding things long enough for my arms and legs. They are a pretty standard inseam (about 32″), so they’ll work for most people. They’re not too short to work. I would just like another inch or two on both the legs and arms.

Price

As I said, I was gifted these. However, I did ask my hiking buddy for the information. They are currently on sale for about $23.00. Not bad for a base layer.

Do you have any base layer suggestions? What kind do you wear on your adventures? Comment below :)
